A Japanese garden in the sky

This rooftop garden was designed in Edo period Japanese style.

The garden gives the master bedroom and bath something to look at. Stone was used instead of water to keep the load off the structure of the house.

It makes a small oasis with the mountains beyond. We listened closely to what the client wanted, a calm and quiet effect, and built something that respects both the architecture underneath and the Japanese tradition behind it.
